Vendor Spotlight

Meet Jack Wander of Union Run Gardens, a grower with dirt under his nails and a mission in his heart.

Jack moved to Lexington about a year ago, answering what he describes as a calling to become a land steward. At Union Run, he practices small scale regenerative agriculture, working with the soil instead of against it and carefully cultivating heirloom crop varieties suited to the land and climate of Rockbridge County.

This is seed saving with purpose. His garden is open pollinated, and the surplus seeds he offers are perfect for home gardeners and horticultural enthusiasts who want to grow something rooted in place. These are not commercial ag seeds. They are the kind you tuck into backyard soil and watch become part of your own little ecosystem. 🌱

He will also be bringing a limited number of handcrafted birdhouses just in time for nesting season. Each one comes with its own story, a few hammer taps to the thumb included. 🐦

Jack is just getting started and is grateful for the support of this community. In addition to seeds and birdhouses, he is open to advising on ecological landscaping and garden establishment. If you would like to connect with him about a mutually beneficial arrangement, you can reach him at [email protected].

Stop by his booth this week and welcome Union Run Gardens to the market. 🌾
