Hi there,

You might have noticed that I didn’t add to the avalanche of newsletters in your inbox last weekend.

There’s just SO much noise around us this time of year…

Your Lexington farmer’s market takes pride in being the gentler way to enjoy preparing for the holidays right now, outdoors in fresh air, without fluorescent lighting, artificial flavors, scents, or chemicals.  Instead we surround you with pretty colors from fresh produce, naturally colored soaps and candles, and all the festive trimmings you could want.  Real pine cones, picked locally, that still smell of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests; big glossy magnolia leaves for the mantle-place, foyer or tabletop swag, local holly, VA mistletoe from up in the trees, beeswax candles from bees across Rockbridge County, wreaths so fresh they last all winter, etc, etc.

There’s so much more – it’s a real candyland when you stop and take the time to look around at all the stalls.

I’m still a fan of shopping, mind you – just, I  prefer shopping smart,  sustainably and supporting local.  Join me and you’ll soon see you’re supporting a way of life, a beautiful landscape, and a work ethic to believe in and uphold.

The Fudge, jams and cookies can make great gifts, and you can feel terrific knowing YOU are keeping our local economy strong.  Those vegetables you’re buying to go with the sausage or lamb chops, candles all give you a reason to gather and celebrate the season authentically and make those lifetime memories.

In closing, I hope you’re hanging in there, keeping your holiday spirit intact despite the chaos of deal-chasing, shopping list countdowns, meal preps, and frenetically trying to get with friends in addition to your family.   If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try to remember that “perfection” is overrated.  Remember to lavish yourself with an herbal tea, whipped tallow bar, and healing body scrub with some quality alone time to decompress.

What matters most is taking care of yourself and enjoying the moments with laughter to create those magical memories.  If you want to duck out of a few responsibilities, we’ve got your back.  Lean on us for special gifts for your loved ones.  We even have “thank you” cards to send to your favorite host so you’ll be invited back next year! Best of all, you won’t break the bank shoppign with us, either!

We are here to make this holiday season a little less stressful and a whole lot more about the joy, and connection of this season.

I’m so grateful to have you in our community.
Our vendors and artisans join me in sending you lots of holiday cheer (and maybe some chocolate and self-care goodies).

Nina,
Your friendly farmer’s market manager.
